Testing & Storage Facility

At 4,000 square feet, Vector Scientific's new testing and storage facility provides a generous space for case-specific testing, ongoing research, as well as vehicle and evidence storage. The skylights and internal facility lights create ideal illumination for evidence and vehicle photography. The facility also has a bay door for vehicle entry. Crash Testing

Vector Scientific is equipped to perform low to moderate speed frontal, side, and rear vehicle-to-vehicle crash testing.

Low-speed barrier impacts may also be performed utilizing our custom-made, multi-purpose barrier.

VSI conducted four rear end crash tests between a 1997 Dodge Intrepid and a 1989 Pontiac Firebird at similar speeds (between 11 and 14 mph). The two images at right are taken from video footage of VSI's Rear End Underride Crash Tests. The first image is from real-time video (actual speed) and the second image is from a high-speed video camera (6% of actual speed). Vehicle and Evidence Storage

Vector Scientific's testing and storage facility is equipped to store small to large vehicles and has various sizes of shelving racks to securely store smaller case evidence items. Our facility is closely monitored with ADT security systems to ensure our clients' evidence is as safe as possible.

Vehicle Inspections

Our facility also offers generous space to host vehicle inspections for most any vehicle size. A vehicle lift, movable strollers and inspection equipment are all available and allow for the most effective inspection possible.

Instrumentation

Multipurpose accelerometers and load cells

Our facility is equipped with Entran EGAX-100 accelerometers, crash-rated up to 100 G's and ideal for many impact configurations for both vehicle and occupant applications.

Portable, digital accelerometer packs

Instrumented Sensor Technologies (IST) provides integrated sensor technologies that allow for cordless, self-contained solutions to measuring vehicle crash kinematics as well as vehicle handling dynamics. Vector Scientific is equipped with two crash-rated data packs and one vehicle braking and handling data pack. These systems allow for efficient and expedient testing of vehicles, both in the lab and out in the field.

Portable, digital vehicle scales

Ideal for both lab and field use, our digital scales can be quickly setup and used for measuring vehicle weight distributions as well as numerous other applications

Force gauges and dynamometers

Our multipurpose force gauges allow for quick measurement of a variety of static and dynamic loading conditions. Our dynamometer Microfit2 digital muscle tester is rated for loads up to 150 lbs. and can be used for numerous ergonomic evaluations.

Digital High-Speed Video Cameras

VSI now has a high-speed digital color video system with recording rates up to 2000 frames per second. This new system enables us to capture and analyze such events as: vehicle dynamics, occupant kinematics, airbag performance, human movement, and sport biomechanics.
