Senior Engineer
Mr. Vaughan is a registered Professional Engineer and an accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist who performs vehicle accident reconstruction analyses of all types. Mr. Vaughan utilizes energy, momentum, and computer simulations to reconstruct collision dynamics. He has extensive experience utilizing PC-crash to reconstruct collisions and create video simulations. He is a registered Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) with the state of California and is experienced using VSI's laser survey equipment to record detailed measurements of vehicular crush patterns and accident site evidence and dimensions. Mr. Vaughan has experience utilizing photogrammetry software such as Photomodeler in combination with the laser survey equipment to extract measurements from the scene of the collision that were only captured photographically.
Mr. Vaughan can utilize VSI's accelerometers, high speed video, and other testing equipment for vehicle handling, brake testing, acceleration performance, as well as crash testing. Mr. Vaughan is also a certified Crash Data Retrieval Technician and Analyst capable of downloading and interpreting collision data recorded by the vehicles internal computer.
Mr. Vaughan joined VSI in the spring of 2003. In June 2005, he earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the UCLA School of Engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from the University of California at Berkeley in 2002. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
Personal
Mr. Vaughan is an avid bicycle commuter logging over 2000 miles annually. He also enjoys free diving and spear fishing in the waters off Palos Verdes and La Jolla along California's southern coast line.
