Mr. Vaughan is a Mechanical Engineer who performs vehicle accident reconstruction analyses of all types, from pedestrian impacts to tractor-trailer collisions. Mr. Vaughan utilizes both energy and momentum methods to reconstruct collision dynamics. He has experience using VSI’s new laser survey equipment to record detailed measures of vehicular crush patterns and accident site evidence as well as incorporating its use in VSI’s low speed crash tests. Mr. Vaughan is also experienced with utilizing photogrammetry software such as I-Witness and Photomodeler to extract measurements from scene evidence that was only captured photographically. Mr. Vaughan graduated in June 2005 from the UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Science with a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from the University of California at Berkeley in 2002 and joined VSI’s Engineering Division in 2003. Mr. Vaughan is currently EIT certified and is planning on taking the Professional Engineer (PE) exam and the Land Surveyor In Training (LSIT) exam this year. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the California Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialists (CAARS), and the Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI). |
