Edward C. Fatzinger Jr., M.S., P.E. efatzinger@vectorscientific.com
Mr. Fatzinger joined VSI in 2001 and is a forensic engineer involved in all aspects of vehicle accident reconstruction and collision analyses, including extensive use of computer-based simulations, as well as momentum and energy-based equations. Mr. Fatzinger is an engineering team leader with VSI’s car crash testing and mechanical testing projects. He also conducts forensic investigations of brake and other mechanical failures. His academic background and technical training are enhanced by more than ten years experience as a mechanic in the repair and maintenance of both automobiles and motorcycles. Mr. Fatzinger is an experienced motorcycle rider currently active in dirt flat track racing. Selected pictures from some recent local and national races are posted below. Mr. Fatzinger currently holds ASE certifications in Brakes, and Suspension and Steering. He also has teaching experience involving strength of materials, structures and instrumentation, and destructive and nondestructive testing. Mr. Fatzinger’s testing experience includes acoustic emission (AE) testing, ultrasonic testing (UT), and hydrostatic testing of DOT certified gas cylinders used in commercial trucks. He has obtained ASNT (American Society of Nondestructive Testing) Level II certification in both AE and UT. Mr. Fatzinger received a Master of Science (M.S.) in Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanics of Materials and Structural Testing from Embry Riddle University in 2001.
