Dr. Dainty joined Biomechanics Research & Consulting, Inc. in 2000 and stayed with the firm through the merger with Knott Laboratory and the subsequent spin-off into Vector Scientific, Inc. (VSI) in 2001. As a Senior Biomechanist at VSI he serves as Project Leader in the Biomechanics Division on injury analyses of automobile, sport/recreation, and occupational and premise accidents.

In 2002, Dr. Dainty was the lead investigator at VSI on a research project sponsored by the National Hockey League (NHL) to conduct a biomechanical evaluation of injury tolerance to the face from puck impacts. Dr. Dainty has published numerous articles and made numerous academic presentations at the national and international level related to human performance, injury evaluation, and injury prevention in the areas of automobile safety, ergonomics, and sport.

Dr. Dainty received his Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University in 1979 from the College of Health and Human Development with a specialty in Biomechanics. Since then he has held academic appointments at York University in Toronto, Ontario; the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario; the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario; the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario; and Visiting Professor in Sports Medicine at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Dr. Dainty also served as Dean of a private professional college in Toronto. His most recent appointment was Professor of Biomechanics in the Faculty of Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Dainty also held the position of Research Bioengineer at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where he established an impact biomechanics lab and directed research on the effects of chest impact into steering wheels, head impacts into windshields, and knee impacts into dashboards, primarily on a project funded by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
