Biomechanical Engineer
Ms. Jones joined VSI as a Biomechanical Engineer in 2007 with a background in clinical sports medicine, specializing in on the field management of athletic injuries and rehabilitation.
Following completion of her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sports Medicine/ Athletic Training from Metropolitan State College of Denver, Ms. Jones spent 5 years working in athletic training at NCAA Division II colleges in the Denver Metro Area, supervising and training undergraduate athletic training students. She completed her Masters of Science (M.S.) in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) in 2006, with Mechanical Specialty and an applied biomechanics thesis topic (Development of a Soft Tissue Analog for use in Cadaver ACL Brace Testing). While at CSM Ms. Jones was a teaching assistant in the areas of electrical circuits, biomechanics, finite element modeling and LabView data acquisition. Ms. Jones has also taught undergraduate Biomechanics for the University of Colorado, Boulder Integrative Physiology department.
Ms. Jones has worked in orthopedic research involving: spinal surgery and implants, clinical and laboratory testing of ACL brace interaction and effectiveness, and clinical outcomes for pediatric oncology.
Ms. Jones is currently focusing on research regarding children in rollover accidents with regard to injury outcomes and restraint effectiveness.
Personal
A Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area and a graduate of Golden High School. While no longer working directly with athletes, Kerry is still a sports fan at heart, notably cheering for the Colorado Avalanche, Rockies and the Oredigger baseball team. Kerry is active in local volunteer and training organizations including as a founding board member for Heroes Forever, and a member of the Junior League of Denver.
